Accelerating the growth of the local, sustainable food system
vision
Every district in Hawaii has an abundant food system that feeds the community, enhances social cohesion, provides economic opportunity and supports health and well-being.
Mission
To provide inspiration, organization, resources and tools which accelerate the growth of Hawaii's local, sustainable food system
impact
Sustainable Initiatives partners with communities, businesses and non-profit organizations on high-impact projects that result in measurable changes for Hawaii's communities and food system.
Sustainable Initiatives is owned by Andrea Dean, MBA who has been researching, planning, funding and managing community food projects in Hawaii since 1989.
Andrea has helped build numerous community food projects from the ground up—doing everything from facilitating stakeholder meetings to raising millions of dollars in funding to harvesting and distributing food.
