Growing a Local Food system in North Kohala: Planning for 50% Food Self-Sufficiency

In August, 2009 the North Kohala Food Forum was convened and attended by 200 community members. A community food survey was conducted in preparation for the Food Forum and to gather information on the local food system. Subsequently, the Growing a Local Food System in North Kohala: Planning for 50% Food Self-Sufficiency strategic plan was developed in order to guide the community towards the goal of producing 50% of the food it consumes.
